Functional Dry Needling

Relieve pain. Restore movement. Get back to what you love.

Functional Dry Needling (FDN) is a modern, evidence-based treatment that targets muscular trigger points to reduce pain, improve mobility, and enhance recovery. Using thin, sterile needles, FDN penetrates deep into tight or irritated muscles, helping them relax, release, and reset—so you can move and feel better, faster.

Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, an acute injury, or muscular tightness from stress or training, FDN can help restore optimal function and accelerate your healing.

How is Functional Dry Needling Different from Acupuncture?

While both techniques use similar needles, FDN is not acupuncture. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine and focuses on balancing energy flow (Qi) through meridians. Functional Dry Needling is rooted in Western medicine, targeting specific muscle dysfunctions and neuromuscular conditions. The goal is to deactivate painful trigger points and improve muscle performance and joint mobility.

Think of it this way: Acupuncture balances energy. FDN treats muscle dysfunction.

What to Expect During Your Session

  • Assessment: We’ll start with a detailed evaluation of your pain, movement patterns, and muscle function.

  • Treatment: Thin, single-use needles are gently inserted into specific trigger points or dysfunctional areas. You may feel a muscle twitch, mild ache, or brief cramp—that’s a good sign the muscle is responding.

  • Post-Treatment: Some soreness (like after a workout) is common and typically resolves in 24–48 hours. Most patients feel looser, less painful, and more mobile after just a session or two.

  • Results: Many experience rapid improvements in pain relief, mobility, and overall function—especially when FDN is combined with personalized movement and rehab strategies.

Cost/Payments

Unfortunately, FDN is not covered by most insurances so this is a cash based service. We charge $100 the first session for an evaluation/establish care and each appointment after is $50.
